Amir-Abdollahian: Current region crisis due to Zionist presence
Iran's foreign minister says that Tehran will not allow foreign forces to interfere in its relations with Yerevan.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that the countries of the region must resolve their issues through dialogue without foreign intervention.
During a joint press conference, Amir-Abdollahian agreed with his Armenian counterpart to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in all areas of economy, politics, culture, and tourism.
Referring to the current tension between Iran and Azerbaijan, Amir-Abdollahian stated that the current crisis is due to the presence of "Zionists and terrorists" in parts of the region.
"Iran will not allow some foreign states to affect its relations with the neighbors, including Armenia," he stressed.
For his part, the Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stressed, at the joint press conference, the necessity of starting a new chapter of relations between Iran and Armenia, thanking Iran for respecting Armenia's territorial integrity.
Mirozyan said that the two foreign ministers discussed the latest developments in the region and the war in Nagorno-Karabakh, noting that Azerbaijan is still holding a number of Armenian citizens in its prisons.
The Armenian Foreign Minister said that his country has agreed to hold a meeting with representatives from Russia and Azerbaijan to discuss the reopening of roads.
Mirozyan's visit to Tehran coincides with the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement on Monday, that Armenia's relations with Iran are very important, asserting that his country will not participate in any conspiracies against Iran.
