Ankara: Türkiye, Saudi Arabia on same page regarding Palestinian cause
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated his country's readiness to take a stand against "Israel" at the ICJ.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Sunday that Ankara will not abandon the Palestinian cause, and will not leave it resting "on the Arab nations' shoulders", but will fulfill its responsibilities toward it as well.
In a statement, Fidan said, "Everyone should learn a lesson from this tragedy, and work toward implementing the two-state solution," or else the war on Gaza would not be the last, with many to follow.
Fidan also cited the Hamas movement as saying it would disarm itself upon the declaration of an independent Palestinian state.
He further noted the unanimity of opinions between Turkey and Saudi Arabia regarding the Palestinian cause, stressing that escalations between Iran and the Israeli occupation risk the ignition of a greater war.
In this context, it is worth noting that Turkey expressed its readiness to take a stand in South Africa's genocide case against "Israel" at the International Court of Justice, at a joint conference with nations that acknowledge the Palestinian state, in Riyadh.
Fidan additionally reiterated the need for "Israel" to adhere to the demands of the ICJ.
Turkey: Trade will remain halted until a permanent ceasefire is achieved
A few days ago, Turkey announced that it would suspend all trade with "Israel" until a ceasefire is implemented in Gaza.
Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat emphasized, "We decided to stop exports and imports to and from Israel until a permanent ceasefire is achieved [in Gaza] and humanitarian aid is allowed without interruption."
The trade minister further stressed that "Israel's" attitude, which he described as "uncompromising", coupled with the worsening situation in Gaza's southern Rafah region, had prompted Ankara to decide to halt trade with Tel Aviv.
Bolat further underscored that Turkey continues its negotiations "with our Palestinian brothers on alternative arrangements to ensure that they are not affected by this decision."
