Arab League Delegation Visits Beirut to Address Lebanese-Gulf Crisis
As the Lebanese-Gulf Crisis develops, a high-level Arab League delegation to visit Beirut next Monday.
An official source told "Reuters" Saturday that a high-level Arab League delegation will visit Beirut on Monday to address Lebanon’s current crisis with the Gulf States.
The delegation will be headed by Arab League Assistant Secretary-General Hossam Zaki, according to the same source.
In a similar step, the Lebanese cabinet has lately announced that the Qatari foreign minister will arrive in Beirut soon to discuss the Lebanese-Gulf crisis.
This comes after the resurfacing of statements made by the Lebanese Minister of Information, George Kordahi, on a TV show before assuming his ministerial duties, in which he described the war on Yemen as "futile", adding that the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement "has been defending itself in the face of external aggression against Yemen for years," which sparked a series of local and Arab responses.
Close sources to the Lebanese Minister of Information, George Kordahi, assured Al Mayadeen on Thursday that Kordahi will not resign, and his stance has not changed.
It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia summoned its ambassador from Lebanon for consultations last week, while it asked the ambassador of Lebanon to leave the Kingdom within 48 hours and decided to halt all Lebanese imports to the kingdom.
Following in the footsteps of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait asked the Lebanese ambassador to leave their lands within 48 hours. In turn, the UAE decided to withdraw its diplomats from Lebanon and prevent its citizens from traveling to it.
