The Arab League agreed to strengthen the boycott on Israeli-affiliated companies on Wednesday, issuing a ban on corporations that violate the rules of the Arab boycott in investment in illegal settlements.

The Arab delegates also demanded companies withdraw their investments and renounce cooperation with the Israeli occupation, adhering to the implemented boycott rules during their 96th conference of the Liaison Officers of Arab Regional Offices on Boycott of "Israel" in Cairo.

The conference, led by Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories Ambassador Saeed Abu Ali, highlighted “the importance of strengthening the work of the Arab boycott agencies and following up on their efforts and activities in implementing the provisions of the Arab boycott.”

Appreciation and recognition were expressed for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement on its global influence and achievements in combatting Israeli colonialism and occupation, as well as advocating for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood.

The significance of fostering cooperation and coordination between the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to develop mechanisms for integration into Arab and international boycott initiatives was also addressed.

The Arab League also urged the United Nations Human Rights Council to comply with the annual revision of blacklisted international and Israeli companies operating in the occupied Palestinian territories, as per the 2016 resolution 31/36.

The organization also denounced any laws or decisions that target and criminalize the BDS movement, as well as hinder divestments and boycotts against “Israel", such as Western governments passing the law on economic activity.

The conference included the delegation calling on the FIFA and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to ban “Israel” from participating in sporting events due to its ongoing genocidal war crimes on Palestine.
