Arab states affirm support for Lebanon amid ongoing Israeli aggression
Arab countries express their support for Lebanon and its people in light of the Israeli aggression and their readiness to provide aid to those affected and displaced.
The failure of the international community to stop the war on Gaza was a green light to expand the "conflict", Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, pointed out on Thursday.
Sheikh Tamim expressed his "full support" for Lebanon and said he ordered that emergency aid be provided to all those displaced and affected amid the ongoing Israeli aggression on Lebanon, which has killed 1,974 people and wounded 9,384 others, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
"I affirm the State of Qatar's full support for Lebanon and its brotherly people against the brutal attacks they are being subjected to," the Emir posted on social media platform X.
Egypt to spare no effort in providing humanitarian aid to Lebanon: Representative
In a related context, Egypt reiterated its support for Lebanon in confronting Israeli aggression.
During an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives, Egypt's representative, Mohamed Mostafa Orfi, underscored that Cairo will spare no effort in working to deliver humanitarian aid to Lebanon.
He emphasized his country's commitment to collaborating with regional and international parties to halt the escalating Israeli aggression against the Lebanese people.
The diplomat also expressed Egypt's rejection of all violations of Lebanon's sovereignty, pointing out that Cairo had warned against the potential for things to spiral into very dangerous outcomes.
Palestine's representative warns against 'Israel's' schemes in the region
Meanwhile, Palestine’s representative to the Arab League, Mohannad Aklouk, pointed in his speech to "Israel's" project to change the Middle East, warning that it poses a grave danger to Arab national security as a whole.
"How can an aggressor force arm itself with the right to self-defense?" he questioned, pointing out that the illegal Israeli occupation brings forth resistance as a legitimate reaction to an illegitimate act.
Aklouk highlighted that the Israeli occupation has killed and injured over 150,000 Palestinian civilians and has destroyed homes and churches.
He also underlined that the Palestinian people will not be defeated or abandon their land and expressed solidarity with Lebanon against Israeli aggression.
61,000 Lebanese displaced to Syrian territory: Syria's representative
On his part, Syria's representative, Hussam Eddin Ala, called for the formulation of an Arab position supporting Lebanon in its resistance against "Israel" and for supporting Lebanon in defending its land and people, while providing urgent assistance to meet the immediate needs arising from Israeli aggression.
He condemned the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, announcing Syria's readiness to provide support and assistance, and explained that it had initiated efforts to meet the humanitarian needs and shelter for Lebanese citizens displaced to Syria.
Ala confirmed that the Syrian government facilitated the access of international agencies, noting that the number of arrivals reached 227,000, comprising both Lebanese and Syrians residing in Lebanon, including around 61,000 Lebanese.
The Syrian diplomat denounced the escalation of the Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, calling on the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and take immediate action to stop the multifaceted Israeli aggression and to end the state of inaction that has been controlling its work due to the veto power practiced by the United States.
Jordan completely rejects Israeli aggression on Lebanon
Moreover, Jordan's representative Amjad Adaileh held "Israel" fully responsible for the consequences of its aggression on Lebanon, which comes in parallel with its continued war on Gaza.
He affirmed his country's complete rejection of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon and stressed the urgent need for the international community to act immediately to achieve a ceasefire and implement Security Council Resolution 1701, reiterating Jordan's rejection of all escalatory measures in Gaza, the West Bank, and Islamic sanctities in al-Quds.
Adaileh expressed Jordan's full support for Lebanon, and its backing of the Lebanese position articulated by Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who confirmed the country's readiness to implement Resolution 1701, deploy the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon in cooperation with international forces, and call on the Parliament to elect the country's president.
Elsewhere, he announced that Jordan supports launching an international campaign to provide humanitarian assistance to Lebanon, which is facing the challenge of accommodating more than one million displaced persons.
Iraq dispatches over 40 tons of medical, food supplies to Lebanon
Ambassador Qahtaan Taha Khalaf al-Janabi, Iraq's permanent representative to the Arab League, reaffirmed Baghdad's unwavering commitment to assisting the Lebanese people during these challenging times, underscoring the necessity for Arab solidarity in confronting Lebanon's humanitarian challenges.
He urged the international community to take immediate action to halt military escalation and provide essential support.
Al-Janabi further confirmed that Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani has initiated an air bridge to facilitate the delivery of urgent aid to Lebanon, with over 40 tons of medical and food supplies dispatched.
Additionally, a medical team comprising 22 Iraqi doctors has been sent to offer medical support, along with two aircraft carrying aid from the holy shrines of Imam Hussein and al-Abbas.
Oman's Abdullah Nasser al-Rahbi also underscored that the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, persisting for over 70 years, remains the primary cause of ongoing conflict and violence in the region.
He stressed that granting the Palestinian people their right to self-determination and establishing an independent state within the borders of 1967, with the eastern part of al-Quds as its capital, "is a fundamental step to restore security, stability, and peace in the region."
During the meeting, the Arab League condemned what it described as "Israel's" "brutal scenario" in Lebanon, with Assistant Secretary-General Hossam Zaki warning of a "potential regional war" due to the "intensified aggression" on the country.
Lebanon's Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ali Hasan al-Halabi, reported that over 2,000 people have been killed and more than 10,000 injured as a result of the Israeli aggression, which has displaced over 1.2 million individuals.
