In an official statement, Venezuela condemned the recent Israeli aggression on the Syrian airports of Damascus and Aleppo in Syria.

“The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically condemns the launch of missiles from Israel, which have impacted the International Airports of Damascus and Aleppo, in the Syrian Arab Republic,” the Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Ministry stated.

The Ministry considered the recent aggression an attack on civilian facilities that "aggravates the situation" after the cruel and deadly war actions against the Palestinian people, "which could be classified as a violation by Israel of International Humanitarian Law and which has left thousands dead, multiple injured and the destruction of entire communities."

The statement includes a call for the international community to "intensify efforts based on the international principles enriched in the United Nations Charter," which would lead to a ceasefire in Gaza.

Earlier on Thursday, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Damascus reported that the Syrian air defenses intercepted Israeli air strikes on the airports of Damascus and Aleppo.

Activists on social media shared images and footage of the targeting of the two airports.

Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Aleppo reported that the Syrian air defenses intercepted an attack targeting Aleppo Airport, reporting that the runway was damaged. Correspondingly, Israeli media also reported an air strike on Damascus International Airport.

Shortly afterward, the Syrian Ministry of Defense issued a statement condemning the Israeli aggression.

The statement then framed this aggression as being part of a persistent strategy by "Israel" to indirectly support the takfiri terrorists in Syria, which serves as an extension for "Israel" in Syria.
