Belarusian Foreign Ministry demands probe into Ukrainian missile fall
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry summons the Ukrainian Ambassador to Minsk and asks to bring those responsible to justice after the fall of a missile of the S-300 air-defense system on Belarus.
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry summoned Ihor Kyzym, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Minsk, after a missile was fired on Thursday by the Ukrainian armed forces and landed on Belarusian territory, and demanded an investigation into the incident, Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokesman Anatoly Glaz said.
"As you know, the Belarusian air defense forces shot down a Ukrainian S-300 missile over the territory of Belarus today. This is a very serious incident. And Belarus takes this issue as seriously as possible. In this regard, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry summoned the Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus Ihor Kyzym today and expressed its strong protest to him," Glaz told reporters.
A thorough investigation was demanded by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, which asked to bring those responsible to justice and take comprehensive measures so that such events do not reoccur, the spokesman added.

Glaz said it is necessary to wait for the end of the investigation to determine if it was a case of deliberate provocation.
"An investigation is underway now. There is no exact information to date. An investigative team is working," Glazov said, answering a question about whether the incident was an act of provocation or just an accident.
Earlier today, the Belarusian Belta news agency reported that a missile of the S-300 air-defense system which was fired by the Ukrainian armed forces landed on Belarusian territory.
The time period registered for the incident was between 10:00 and 11:00 local time (07:00 and 08:00 GMT). The agency also added that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko was notified of the incident and called for causes to be identified.
