Biden calls for ‘pause’ in Gaza in Minnesota event; only for captives
Biden remarked that the situation was" incredibly complicated" for Israelis, making no mention of the thousands of Palestinians killed so far.
US President Joe Biden asked for a "pause" in the aggression on Gaza, albeit only after a request from a Rabbi in his audience at a Minnesota event on Thursday.
The rabbi, who subsequently revealed her identity as Jessica Rosenberg, yelled, "Mr. President, I need you to call for a ceasefire if you care about Jewish people as a rabbi."
Biden expressed, “I think we need a pause. A pause means giv[ing] time to get the prisoners out," turning a blind eye to the thousands of Palestinians killed so far in the Israeli aggression, the tens of thousands injured, the millions displaced, and the entire Strip that is under a complete blockade for almost a month now.
Biden flaunted, saying that he was the "guy that convinced Bibi [Benjamin Netanyahu] to call for a ceasefire to let the prisoners out. I’m the guy that talked to Sisi [the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah el-Sissi] to convince him to open the door."
However, according to White House sources, Biden was referring to the release of two American hostages from Illinois.
Biden remarked that the situation was" incredibly complicated" for Israelis and that he supported a "two-state solution" from the onset.
“The fact of the matter is that Hamas is a terrorist organization. A flat-out terrorist organization.”
During the event, protesters held flags and signs that called for an end to bombing the children of Gaza and demanding a ceasefire.
The White House told NBC that Biden's statements during the event were not an announcement for official policy but rather his belief that hostages should be released, and the only way to achieve that was through a temporary pause.
Muslim Americans say ceasefire before votes
Days ago, Muslim Americans and certain Democratic Party supporters expressed their intent to mobilize millions of Muslim voters and refrain from contributing donations or votes toward President Joe Biden's 2024 reelection unless he promptly acts to facilitate a Gaza ceasefire.
The National Muslim Democratic Council, a group comprising Democratic Party figures from pivotal states in the upcoming election, including Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, urged Biden to leverage his influence with "Israel" to mediate a ceasefire by 5 pm ET (2100 GMT) on Tuesday.
In an open letter titled "2023 Ceasefire Ultimatum," Muslim leaders in the US committed to rallying Muslim voters and refraining from backing, supporting, or voting for any candidate who backs the Israeli offensive on Palestinians.
The Council expressed that President Biden's administration, which has provided unwavering support, including financial aid and weaponry, has been a major factor in sustaining the violence that leads to civilian casualties and undermines the trust of voters who had previously supported him.
