Biden lags behind Trump in vital swing states as elections year looms
A Bloomberg survey reveals that Trump is seeing more support in at least seven swing states than Democratic President Biden.
US President Joe Biden is contending with political challenges within his Democratic party, as he currently trails behind his Republican rival, former President and current office candidate Donald Trump, in key swing states that are crucial for the 2024 elections, Bloomberg reported on Thursday.
A survey conducted by the newspaper in seven swing states revealed that recent data has brought to light the increasing dissatisfaction among Democratic voters with the Biden administration.
Support among Black voters, who represent a key demographic for the Democrats, has seen a decline since October. Additionally, young voters aged between 18 to 34 years, another vital group for the party, have expressed displeasure with Biden's approach to student loan forgiveness. This group is also likely to be critical of his handling of the Israeli war on Gaza.

In Michigan, figures show that this Midwestern state will be significant in the upcoming year, as Biden is grappling with a low approval rating and concerns regarding his age at 81 years old.
In summary, 58% of voters in key swing states - including Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, and Nevada - currently hold a negative view of Biden, as per the study.
US citizens disdained over Biden's policies
According to a Wall Street Journal survey released last week, 53% of US voters said Biden's policies had directly harmed them compared to the 49% who said former Trump's policies had helped them during his tenure. Meanwhile, only 37% said the former president's policies had affected them negatively.
Meanwhile, a Pew Research Center poll released last Friday revealed that only a third of Americans approve of how the Biden administration is managing the war on Gaza.
With Republicans, 51% of respondents disapprove while only 28% approve. Democrats, meanwhile, stand further divided: 44% approve, 33% disapprove, and 22% are undecided.
The presidential election in the United States is slated for November 2024 and current surveys have indicated that Trump holds an edge over Biden.
