Biden threatened with impeachment over 'Israel' weapons suspension
Republicans justify Representative Mills' decision by recalling how Democrats accused former US President Donald Trump of “abuse of power” for reportedly withholding congressionally approved military aid in 2019.
US President Joe Biden is under threat of being impeached after Representative Cory Mills of Florida filed articles of impeachment against him for suspending weapon deliveries to "Israel", which comes after the President relayed to CNN that “we’re not going to supply the weapons and artillery shells” to "Israel" if it proceeds with invading Rafah.
In light of that, Republicans justified Mills' decision by recalling how Democrats accused former US President Donald Trump of “abuse of power” for reportedly withholding congressionally approved military aid in 2019.
Speaking to Fox News on Thursday, Mills said, “Joe Biden is pressuring Israel, our biggest ally in the Middle East, by pausing their funding that has already been approved in the House, if they don’t stop all operations with Hamas,” adding that it was a clear case of “quid pro quo” and that he plans to impeach Biden for it.

Mills has formally initiated the impeachment procedure in the US House of Representatives.
It’s very clear the violation by President Biden and his abuse of power to withhold congressionally appropriated aid for Israel in exchange for political favor. “In violation of his oath to faithfully execute the office of the president and to uphold the Constitution, President Biden abused the powers of his office by soliciting a ‘quid pro quo’ with Israel while leveraging vital military aid for policy changes,” as stated by Mills, while he posted a photo on X with the same rhetoric used in 2019.

Even if Mills persuades the House to impeach Biden, he will likely be acquitted in the Democrat-controlled Senate.
This week, citing a senior US official, ABC News reported that a shipment of around 3,500 bombs to "Israel" last week was held up by the US over concerns that they would be used in Rafah where more than one million civilians are sheltering "with nowhere else to go."
That comes in the news confirmed by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin publicly at a Senate hearing on Wednesday, noting that the Israeli invasion in Rafah could alter US aid to "Israel".
"We are currently reviewing some near-term security assistance shipments in the context of unfolding events in Rafah," he said, stressing that the supplemental funding Congress passed is not affected.

White House National Security Advisor John Kirby has previously underlined that the United States believes there are better ways to go after Hamas than invading Rafah. He stressed that "Israel" undertaking a major Rafah operation will not advance the objective of both Washington and Tel Aviv of defeating Hamas in Gaza.
Over half of the shipment paused consists of 2,000-pound bombs, while the other half were 500-pound explosives, the official noted.
"We are especially focused on the end-use of the 2,000-pound bombs and the impact they could have in dense urban settings as we have seen in other parts of Gaza," the official said.
This week, Politico quoted a US official as saying that Washington intended to convey a political message to "Israel" since it has reiterated it cannot back an Israeli attack on Rafah without a proper and realistic humanitarian strategy, which the Israelis have ignored.
The delayed supplies include Boeing's small diameter tail kits for unguided bombs, which are meant to improve target accuracy, according to the source, who also mentioned that numerous direct commercial sales to "Israel" were being expedited.
