US President Joe Biden hopes that Congress will pass the two spending bills that are one of the most important aspects of his domestic agenda.
In a statement to reporters on Friday, Biden considered that the negotiations on the two bills are 'getting down to the hard spot' at which they go into details.
Biden's hopes come at a time when his Democratic Party remains divided on the size of the proposed spending. Moderates are concerned about the bill's high cost, while progressives demand ensuring the passing of the bill before even considering the voting on the infrastructure bill.
To handle the matter, Biden invited 20 lawmakers from both the center and left wings to the White House this week to unify the Democrats over the $3.5 trillion social spending plan; the largest in US history.
And House Speaker Nancy Pelosi initially promised the party's moderates a September 27 vote on a $1.2 trillion Senate-passed infrastructure bill to rebuild the nation's roads and bridges.
