Bou Saab: Someone meeting with US negotiator behind our backs
Electoral candidate Elias Bou Saab discusses the Hezbollah-FPM MoU and the latest developments in the maritime border negotiations.
Lebanese electoral candidate Elias Bou Saab said that Lebanon is now hostage to bank directors now that it's been announced that people's deposits are no more.
Bou Saab noted that after the failure of the July 2006 War on Lebanon, they attempted to encircle Lebanon, and starve it in order to subjugate the Lebanese people, but they will not succeed in doing so.
According to Bou Saab, the President (Michel Aoun) failed when it accepted the postponement of important decisions, like the changing of the Governor of the Bank of Lebanon, in favor of reaching a general accord.
The former Defense Minister also noted that President Michel Aoun's time as President saw many accomplishments taking place, like the destabilization of this oligarchy, and the beginning of the forensic accounting investigation.
He further said that the Free Patriotic Movement is facing a strong campaign to tarnish its image by politicians and media personalities funded by the banks.
Someone is meeting with the US negotiator behind our backs
According to Bou Saab, the head of the technical team negotiating the maritime borders in the South, Brigadier General Bassam Yasin, and his superiors, told the US negotiator that Line 29 is up for negotiation, and does not designate our borders, adding "We asked that all of Lebanon's rights" in its maritime riches be held onto, but someone has been meeting with the US negotiator behind our backs.
He further said that "when the Americans and Israelis are told that Line 29 is up for negotiation, then how can we demand it as a right?"
Bou Saab said that Brigadier General Yasin "should stick to his technical duties and not comment in the media regarding what does not concern him in the demarcation process," stressing that he himself had asked the Lebanese Army to pursue Lebanon's rights in Line 29 when he was Defense Minister.
The electoral candidate also reminded that those now calling for the removal of the Resistance's weapons after the elections had already been in power and affirmed the right to resistance in the government's ministerial statement.
