Burkina Faso terrorist explosion kills 10 civilians
A deadly terrorist attack has killed 10 civilians in Burkina Faso in a region ravaged by violence.
A terrorist attack in northern Burkina Faso claimed the lives of at least 10 civilians, security sources reported Sunday.
Unidentified armed individuals carried out an attack on the village of Namssiguian in Bam province," the sources said.
The security forces said the provisional death toll was around 10 dead civilians, adding that the attack caused significant damage to local shops and businesses.
The security source warned that the toll could still rise as "families are still awaiting news about family members."
The capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou, experienced a terrorist attack recently that took the lives of 41 people in the north of the country.
The victims included members of an official self-defense force known as the Volunteers for the Defense of the Motherland (VDP), the government said, which Ouagadougou set up to support its armed forces.
Burkina Faso, just like the majority of the whole region, has been affected by terrorist violence since 2015, which has been sparked by Al-Qaeda and ISIS terror attacks.
The national emergency aid agency says that 1.5 million people, nearly two-thirds of them children, were internally displaced as of November 30, attributed to the terrorist violence ravaging the country.
