The suppression of the protesters highlights the disparity between the US administration's claims of prioritizing a ceasefire and protecting civilians in Gaza.
US Vice President Kamala Harris's National Security Advisor Philip Gordon stated earlier this month that the Democratic presidential candidate "does not support an arms embargo on Israel."
“She will always ensure Israel is able to defend itself against Iran and Iran-backed terrorist groups," Gordon said in a post on X, adding that "she will continue to work to protect civilians in Gaza and to uphold international humanitarian law."

The United States has witnessed near-daily protests demanding an end to arms sales to "Israel" over the genocide in Gaza, with student protests being among the most prominent.
Since the onset of the Israeli war on the Strip last October, support for the isolation of "Israel" has significantly increased and extended beyond just its military actions, The Wall Street Journal reported in July.
The growing BDS movement threatens to impact Israeli careers, damage businesses, and strain the economy of an entity that relies heavily on international collaboration in defense, commerce, and scientific research, the report added.
In another report, the newspaper said that student protests on US university campuses against the war on Gaza are pushing university presidents to resign.
It added that "leading a prestigious university during the current Middle Eastern conflict has become one of the toughest jobs in the United States," adding that five university presidents have resigned so far, and other university leaders have spent the summer establishing stricter rules to avoid a repeat of the spring incidents when colleges across the country experienced protests, encampments, and arrests.
