China FM in Egypt calls for Gaza ceasefire, Palestinian state
China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in Egypt, calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and the establishment of a Palestinian state, given the 100 days of Israeli aggression on Gaza, resulting in thousands of martyrs.
China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged on Sunday the creation of a Palestinian state and a ceasefire in Gaza, where the Israeli aggression has killed thousands over the past 100 days.
In a press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry in Cairo, the top Chinese diplomat said, "It is necessary to insist on the establishment of an independent, fully sovereign state of Palestine on the 1967 borders, with east al-Quds as its capital."
A joint statement issued by the two ministers called for an immediate end to "all acts of violence, killing, and targeting of civilians and civilian establishments."
Shoukry and Wang also advocated for "an international summit for peace to find a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause by ending the (Israeli) occupation and establishing an independent, contiguous Palestinian state."
Earlier this week on January 12, the Chinese envoy to the UN Security Council said that the fighting in Gaza must be stopped immediately and any deportation of Palestinians is utterly rejected.
He added that the Israelis did not leave a safe place for the residents of Gaza and are out to eliminate any solution to the Palestinian issue.
Since the launch of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood and the start of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, at least 23,968 people have been martyred, the majority of them women and children, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza.
