The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson praised the robust and steady relations between Tehran and Beijing, emphasizing their strong bilateral ties ahead of Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's visit to China.
Over the 54 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Iran have maintained a traditional friendship characterized by mutual respect, trust, and support, as stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on Tuesday, according to the Global Times.
Guo further noted that the two countries have advanced the steady and healthy growth of bilateral relations while significantly contributing to peace and stability regionally and globally.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said that Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has departed for Beijing to meet senior Chinese officials.
At a weekly press briefing on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei announced Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's upcoming visit to China, marking his second trip following his December visit. China was among the key signatories of the 2015 nuclear agreement that imposed restrictions on Iran's nuclear program in return for the easing of sanctions.
On April 18, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi revealed plans to visit Beijing next week for high-level discussions with Chinese officials, as Tehran intensifies diplomatic coordination with strategic partners amid critical developments in the US-Iran nuclear negotiations.
"Next week, I will head to Beijing for consultations with my Chinese counterparts," IRNA cited Araghchi as saying.
The upcoming China visit follows Iran's intensified diplomatic efforts to bolster support from key allies amid ongoing indirect negotiations with the United States, with Araghchi having recently wrapped up a two-day Moscow trip that included meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
During the visit, the Iranian FM conveyed a personal message from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and engaged in substantive talks covering both regional collaboration and the status of nuclear negotiations.
