China fully supports all efforts made toward finding a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine crisis, Foreign Minister Wang Yi told the United Nations General Assembly on Saturday, stressing that Beijing's pressing priority was facilitating peace talks between Moscow and Kiev.

"The fundamental solution is to address the legitimate security concerns of all parties and build a balanced, effective, and sustainable security architecture," Wang said in his address.

"We call on all parties concerned to keep the crisis from spilling over and protect the legitimate rights and the interests of developing countries," the Chinese diplomat added.

China has long been siding with Russia against the Western sanctions imposed in light of the Ukraine war, though it never endorsed or assisted Moscow in the war.

Russian President Vladimir Putin underlined last week that his Chinese counterpart voiced certain concerns about the Ukraine war.

White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre earlier in the month said her country was "concerned" about the alliance between the two countries.

The diplomatic rift between the West and the East had been widening further due to the Russian-Ukraine war, which has been exposing the West's ambitions of establishing a unipolar world.

Tensions have surfaced in a number of other issues, such as the Russian-Chinese Arctic Cooperation, the price cap on Russian gas, the continuous stream of arms into Ukraine, the embargo on Chinese microchips, and the provoking visits of US officials to the island of Taiwan.

A growing friendship between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin has helped put the two countries closer together. The ambitions to end what China and Russia regard as America's economic and geopolitical hegemony further strengthened the diplomatic ties.

In June, the Kremlin reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that Russian-Chinese relations are at an unprecedented high level and are constantly improving.
