Consular section of Iran's embassy in Damascus resumes operations
The Iranian consulate commenced operations in a new building adjacent to the one that was targeted by Israeli air strikes.
The Consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus has resumed Saturday operations following a four-day hiatus caused by the Israeli aggression that targeted the facility earlier this week and resulted in the martyrdom of seven IRGC advisors, the Iranian news website Press TV reported.
According to Press TV, the Iranian consulate commenced operations in a new building adjacent to the targeted one.
The Iranian Ambassador to Damascus, Hossein Akbari, mentioned that the Israeli aggression targeted the consular building with six missiles.
Speaking at a ceremony commemorating International al-Quds Day at the Iranian embassy in Damascus on Friday, Akbari announced Iran's request for an extraordinary session of the UN Security Council to file a complaint regarding the Israeli attack.
"Given the failure of the Security Council to take necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such heinous crimes by the Zionist regime, Iran reserves the right to respond," he stressed.
The Iranian diplomat urged Security Council members and the United Nations to condemn the Israeli violations and fulfill their obligations in maintaining international peace and security.
Akbari also highlighted the Israeli regime's heightened state of alertness following Iran's pledge to deliver a decisive response.
"This indicates they are deeply frightened of Iran's retaliation," he indicated.
