Al Mayadeen Media Network CEO, Mr. Ghassan ben Jeddou, responded in a letter to the Cuban president's warm wishes.
"A president who holds Al Mayadeen dearly"
President Miguel Diaz-Canel,
Thank you for your kind words on the 10th anniversary of the launch of Al Mayadeen Media Network; an Arab channel and an organic part of the Global South’s media.
Such congratulations are not strange to the revolutionary president of revolutionary Cuba. We have known you, Mr. President, for years, as someone who holds Al Mayadeen dearly, and have known you for your outstanding humility, your journey in state-building, and your support for truthful, brave media qualities you yourself possess.
Mr. President, we at Al Mayadeen also hold you in high regard as well. How can we not, when you succeed two of the greatest historic figures in revolutionary Cuba, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the great Raul Castro, who preserved the trust of the Revolution in his succession.
As we enter our second decade in Al Mayadeen Media Network, with its different languages, we affirm to you that we will stand firmly by our cultural and strategic principles, and remain committed to supporting “people everywhere, and at all times,” especially the great people of Cuba, its revolution, and its leadership that remains steadfast against injustice, disinformation, and the embargo imposed upon it. Soon, the Arab world and the Global South will come to know the greatness of this humane revolution and the heroic people of Cuba, through a series of documentaries produced by Al Mayadeen on the Cuban Revolution.
In the name of our family at Al Mayadeen, we will never forget Cuba's and your stance in particular by the just causes of mankind, especially the cause of the liberation of Palestine from the grip of the oppressive occupation. We thank you again, Mr. President, for your congratulations.
Warmest regards,
Ghassan Ben Jeddou,
CEO, Al Mayadeen Media Network,
