The meeting will be hosted by Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides in the country's capital Nicosia, and will be attended by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Netanyahu arrived in Nicosia on Sunday and held behind-closed-doors discussions with Christodoulides ahead of the tripartite summit.

This is the second meeting between the two since the Cypriot president came to office earlier this year, which according to Christodoulides reflects the "strategic partnership of two like-minded democracies in the eastern Mediterranean”.

After objections from the Lebanese government, which included the summoning of the Cypriot ambassador, Nicolas claimed that the drills were not directed "against any other country in the region."
