Czech Republic sending $149 million worth of military aid to Ukraine
Europe continues to send weapons to Ukraine.
The Czech Republic has provided military material worth more than 3.5 billion korunas to Ukraine, in addition to preparing new shipments, according to Czech Minister of Defense, Jana Cernochova on Friday.
"The Czech government has so far sent more than 3.5 billion koruna worth of military materials to Ukraine. This amount increases almost after every cabinet meeting," Cernochova said.
The defense ministry, furthermore, will be proposing next week to send chemical protection materials worth 8 million korunas to Ukraine, revealing that the Czech army has a sufficient supply of the material.
This comes despite protests in Prague against military aid to Ukraine.
According to Czech media, hundreds protested against military aid to Ukraine in Prague.
A demonstration was held in Republic Square (Namesti Republiky) in the capital.
According to Novinky news, Hynek Blasko, a member of the European Parliament from the Czech right-wing Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) Party participated as well.
Blasko addressed the crowd of nearly 500 protesters and declared that the government must be forced "to stop sending arms to Ukraine."
Blasko and other participants of the rally accused the Czech government of withholding information about the events in Ukraine. They also voiced their displeasure with the EU and NATO's unwillingness to conduct security assurances negotiations.
