Day 288 in Gaza: 28+ killed in Israeli bombardments across the Strip
The Israeli occupation continues its aggression on the Gaza Strip, committing more massacres against civilians and carpet bombing the blockaded enclave.
At least 28 Palestinians were killed in a series of Israeli strikes targeting civilian homes across the Gaza Strip during the early hours of Saturday, as the occupation continues its aggression for the 288th day since Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
One Palestinian was killed in an Israeli strike on a home in the al-Hashashin neighborhood in northernmost Rafah, south of Gaza. Israeli military vehicles attacked the westernmost area of Rafah, while its artillery continuously shelled its central area, where the Israeli occupation forces bombarded residential buildings and complexes.
In Khan Younis, another Palestinian was killed in a targeted strike targeting his motorbike as he was driving.
Over the past few hours, Israeli aggression was focused in central Gaza, particularly the Nuseirat camp, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Gaza reported. Eight Palestinians were killed in the camp, while others were injured, in the bombing of a Palestinian home.
Our correspondent in Gaza also reported that three Palestinians were killed and five others were injured in the Israeli bombardment of a home in the al-Bureij camp, in central Gaza.
Palestinian media noted that the IOF opened fire at Salah al-Din Street in the Gaza Valley, while their quadcopters simultaneously fired at al-Daawa Street, in the northernmost area of the central district.
Five Palestinian women and children were killed while others were injured after an Israeli missile attack targeted a house in the al-Tuffah neighborhood, in Gaza City. Seven Palestinians were killed in an Israeli bombing of a house in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza City.
In northern Gaza, four Palestinians were killed and several others were injured after the IOF bombed a house in the al-Alami area of the Jabalia camp.
Nowhere in Gaza is safe
This comes amid constant calls condemning the reckless Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres confirmed that the humanitarian support system in Gaza has almost completely collapsed, noting that there is no justification for the collective punishment of the Palestinian people in light of the ongoing genocidal war on the Gaza Strip for about 10 months.
In his speech delivered by Courtenay Rattray, chief of cabinet of the UN secretary general, he explained that nearly two million Palestinians have been displaced in Gaza and half a million are facing catastrophic levels of acute food insecurity, in addition to the rise in infectious diseases.
“Rafah is in ruins – and the Rafah crossing remains closed, further hampering humanitarian operations. Almost two million people have been displaced – nearly the entire population of Gaza – and many of them multiple times," he stated.
“Nowhere in Gaza is safe,” he emphasized.
