Death toll rises to 54 after suicide bombing in Pakistan
The Islamic State terrorist organization has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack which's death toll has risen to 54.
The death toll from a devastating bombing attack that targeted a political party rally in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has tragically increased to 54, as more victims succumbed to their injuries on Monday, according to reports from local media, citing the police.
The number of those wounded amounted to 46 have now risen to 83 people currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals, as reported by Geo TV broadcaster, Inspector General of the Counter-Terrorism Department, Shokat Abbas.
The catastrophic explosion occurred on Sunday at approximately 4:00 p.m. local time (11:00 GMT) during a gathering of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) party in the town of Khar, situated near the Afghanistan border, in the northwestern Bajaur district.
The blast instantly claimed the lives of around 40 people, leaving over 100 others wounded. Authorities swiftly labeled the incident a terrorist attack, with police attributing the responsibility to the Islamic State. The brutal attack has sent shockwaves across the region, prompting heightened security measures and investigations into the tragic event.

Yesterday it was reported that more than 39 people died in an explosion in Pakistan and dozens more were injured in the northwest Bajaur area, where the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) was holding a rally. According to local officials, the bomb killed Maulana Ziaullah, a regional head of the JUI-F.
