Deploying Western troops in Ukraine risks World War III: Hungary
Hungary's foreign minister has warned of the ignition of a third world war amid certain European countries' insistence on deploying nuclear arms and soldiers in Ukraine.
Deploying Western troops to fight in Ukraine, as per the suggestions of certain European officials, could risk igniting World War III, Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Wednesday.
Following bilateral talks with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi, Szijjarto said in a press conference in Amman "Some European politicians want to send soldiers to Ukraine while other European politicians are fantasizing about using nuclear weapons. In any event, this will mean a world war and those who are in close proximity to the armed conflict will have to pay for this."
Speaking on behalf of Hungarians, he emphasized that his nation has "grown weary of these dangerous statements" that aim at dragging all of Europe and the globe into war against Russia. He further noted that Hungary was "tired" of talks and suggestions of deploying Western soldiers and nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
In this context, Szijjarto expressed optimism that during the European Parliament elections scheduled for June 6-9, voters will have the opportunity to "send a message to European politicians who are engaging in senseless talk."
The Hungarian government, according to the Foreign Minister, is asserting that the matter of war and peace will be addressed during these elections, urging support for political parties that stand against the perpetuation of the armed conflict in Ukraine.
Hungary prepares for WW3
On April 22, Hungary, as confirmed by Szijjarto, rejected the EU's plan to hand member states 2 billion euros ($2.1 billion) for delivering weapons to Ukraine because Kiev has not provided guarantees that Hungarian companies would not be on a "black list".
Belgium wants to give member countries 1.5 billion euros from the European Peace Fund for the weapons they supplied to Kiev in addition to the 500 million euros in the European Union's macro-financial aid for Ukraine which Hungary has been blocking for almost a year.
As broadcast by M1 TV channel, he told reporters: "Hungary’s position is unchanged. Until we receive guarantees that Ukraine will not stop 'the witch hunt' against Hungarian enterprises, we will not agree to such a proposal," adding that EU foreign and defense ministers unanimously admit the frontline situation has become a critical stage.
Brussels has been preparing for a world war, Szijjarto said, noting that the weapon supply to Ukraine has not yielded any success on the battlefield so far.
According to Hungary, the deterioration of the situation in Ukraine should instead encourage efforts for peace and its conditions to be discussed with both Russia and Ukraine, as it wouldn't make sense otherwise.
