During the past few hours, Egypt put forward a new proposal, described as a "mediation for mediation" in an attempt to reach an agreement between "Israel" and Hamas, Israeli media reported on Saturday.
The Israeli Kan 11 channel reported that the Egyptian proposal represents a compromise between the previous two, although the details cannot be disclosed so far.
It is worth noting that one of the previous proposals suggested the release of five living captives, while the other suggested the release of 11 surviving ones.
According to Israeli sources, Israeli officials still believe that "military pressure could contribute to shifting the Hamas movement's stance." However, Kan 11 said it was still unclear whether the reality or Hamas's position would change with more pressure.
Over 50,000 martyrs in Gaza
Meanwhile, Israeli drone and artillery strikes continued across the Gaza Strip on Saturday, leaving a trail of destruction and casualties, according to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent.
60 Palestinians were killed and 162 were injured in 24 hours, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported, as Israeli attacks on the besieged enclave continue unabated.
In a statement released Saturday, the Ministry confirmed that several victims remain trapped under the rubble and in the streets, where emergency and civil defense crews are unable to reach them due to ongoing Israeli assualts.
The health authorities noted that since March 18, 2025, at least 1,309 people have been killed and 3,184 have been injured, highlighting a steep escalation in the humanitarian crisis.
The cumulative toll from the Israeli genocide, which began on October 7, 2023, has now reached 50,669 killed and 115,225 injured, according to the Ministry’s latest figures.
