Egypt, US Naval Forces Conduct Joint Drills in Red Sea
The drills come within the framework of the Egyptian Armed Forces' efforts to enhance military relations and exchange expertise between the two countries.
The Egyptian and US armies conducted a "transient training" in the Red Sea, within the framework of strengthening cooperation, exchanging expertise, and enhancing military relations between the two countries.
The drills conducted with the participation of the Egyptian frigate, Alexandria, and the American cruiser, USS Portland, included a set of a number of naval combat activities which focused on enhancing measures for the naval security at the Red Sea in the presence of specialists from both sides, according to an official statement by the Egyptian Armed Forces today.
The US-Egyptian exercises included a number of naval combat activities such as repelling atypical threats, analyzing the situation on the surface, air, below the surface, and electronic levels as well as other transportation and security measures in the Red Sea.
According to the statement, the training showed the professionality of both crews in implementing the combat skills with high accuracy with a special emphasis on joint coordination among various elements.
Egyptian-American relations have recently witnessed a remarkable development, as the recent joint exercises between the two countries reflect the convergence of visions and goals to maintain maritime security and stability in the region, as well as guaranteeing the regularity of global economic movement.
The Commander of the US Central Command, General Kenneth McKenzie, had stressed, during his meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, earlier, his keenness to continue the pace of consultation and joint coordination with Egypt regarding regional issues, within the framework of the strength of the military relations between Egypt and America, which are considered essential in confronting the current challenges that threaten the stability and security of the region, according to an official statement.
