Egyptian activists denounce arrests against Gaza rally participants
Egyptian parties, forces, and national figures decry the detainment of several participants in the hours following the protests.
Egyptian parties, forces, and national figures have condemned the Egyptian security forces' pursuit of protesters who took part in a demonstration organized by the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate on Wednesday in solidarity with Gaza.
They further decried the subsequent detainment of several participants in the hours following the protests.
In a statement, the Egyptian National Movement reiterated its commitment to its duty toward Palestine, expressing solidarity and support for the Palestinian people through all available means.
The movement made it clear that campaigns of arrest, intimidation, and threats will not deter or prevent it from fulfilling its obligations toward the Palestinian cause.
Signatories of the statement called on the Egyptian government to immediately release all peaceful opinion detainees, especially as these arrests occurred at the beginning of a new presidential term, during which respect for the constitution and the law was affirmed.
They demanded the entry of all accumulated aid to Gaza without coordination with the Israeli occupation entity and the cancellation of the Camp David agreement, renewing their call to Arab governments and regimes to sever ties with "Israel".
