Egyptian president warns of new front opening in Lebanon
El-Sisi says during a meeting with the US top general Charles Brown that the regional situation requires decisive action from the international community and all key stakeholders.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi warned on Sunday of the risks associated with opening a new front in Lebanon and called for an end to the escalation in the Middle East.
In his meeting with US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Brown, the president stressed the importance of preserving Lebanon's stability and sovereignty, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.
His comments followed Hezbollah's retaliatory operation against "Israel" in response to the assassination of one of the group's top military commanders, Sayyed Fouad Shukor, in Beirut earlier this month.

El-Sisi emphasized that the current regional situation demands decisive action from the international community and all key stakeholders, urging them to "exert all efforts and intensify pressures to defuse tension and stop the state of escalation that threatens the security and stability of the entire region."
On day 324 of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, the Palestinian Health Ministry in the Strip reported on Sunday that, since October, the total number of Palestinians killed has risen to 40,405, in addition to 93,468 injured.
While several casualties were transported to partially functioning hospitals and medical centers, others remain trapped beneath the rubble, with defense and rescue crews being unable to reach them.

Presidential spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy conveyed that el-Sisi highlighted the critical importance of responding to the joint efforts of Egypt, the US, and Qatar, which aim to secure an immediate ceasefire in the Strip and facilitate the exchange of prisoners and detainees, thereby paving the way for de-escalation and stability in the region.
The Egyptian president also underscored the dire humanitarian crisis facing the Palestinian people in Gaza, stressing the urgent need to end the war immediately to ensure the delivery of critical humanitarian and medical aid on a massive scale.
He further affirmed the "necessity of international efforts towards launching a comprehensive political process leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the framework of a two-state solution, as a foundation for sustainable regional stability," according to the statement.
