El-Sisi directs PM Madbouly to form new Egyptian cabinet
El-Sisi instructs the new government to prioritize reducing inflation, regulating markets, and boosting both local and foreign investments.
The Egyptian presidency announced that President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Monday reappointed Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to form a new government after the latter submitted his cabinet's resignation following el-Sisi's reelection for a third term last year.
El-Sisi instructed the new government to prioritize reducing inflation, regulating markets, and boosting both local and foreign investments, according to the presidency's statement.
The new cabinet members are also expected to focus on maintaining national security amid regional and international challenges, as well as counter-terrorism efforts, the statement added.
Details about which ministers might be replaced in the long-anticipated reshuffle or when the new cabinet will be announced were not immediately available.
"Today, I assigned Dr Mostafa Madbouly to form a new government that consists of the necessary expertise and competencies to manage the next phase, in order to achieve the desired development in government performance and confront the challenges facing the state," el-Sisi posted on X.

It is noteworthy that el-Sisi was inaugurated for his third term in April, having secured 89.6% of the vote in an election last December that faced no serious opposition.
As Egypt has grappled with a persistent foreign exchange shortage and high inflation over the past two years, there has been speculation that Madbouly might be replaced.
