Ethiopia Attacks Eastern Sudanese Borders
The Sudanese army responded to an attack on the eastern Sudanese borders, which the Ethiopian forces carried out to hamper the TPLF's advances.
The Sudanese army responded to an Ethiopian attack on the eastern border after Addis Ababa alleged the attack was to hinder the advances of the TPLF.
The incursion was carried out by the Ethiopian armed forces and the Amhara militia in the eastern Sudanese borders, which went as deep as 17 km onto Sudanese soil, sources reported.
Addis Ababa has been in conflict with the Tigray's People Liberation Front since last year, which saw escalations over the past few weeks, pushing Ethiopia to declare a state of emergency and urge civilians to arm themselves.
The latest escalations resulted in various countries calling on their nationals to leave Ethiopia over the security state in the country.
State media footage showed Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed at the war front in the northern Tigray region, saying his soldiers would "destroy" rebels from the northern Tigray region.
"We will win. The enemy is dispersing. There are areas we have to control," he added, urging his soldiers to keep fighting. "Until we destroy the enemy there is no rest."
