Euro-Med: On day 100, +100,000 Palestinians lost, wounded
The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor revealed in its most recent report that 92% of all Palestinians brutally killed by "Israel" in the Gaza Strip were civilians: women, children, elderly, civil defense, journalists, and health personnel.
Around 100,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been killed, reported missing, or wounded since the beginning of "Israel's" genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reported.
According to the report, as of January 13, 2024, at least 31,497 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed, out of whom 92% are civilians (28,951 people). Among those Palestinians were 12,345 children, 6,471 women, 295 health personnel, 41 civil defense personnel, and 113 journalists. Additionally, 61,079 individuals have been injured, many critically.
Euro-Med accused "Israel" of violating international humanitarian law, emphasizing that property damage and destruction for preventive or deterrent purposes, even for military goals, is forbidden under international law.
The monitor included missing persons and those presumed dead due to prolonged entrapment under debris in its figures.
Systematic genocide
Moreover, the report underscored that approximately 1.955 million Palestinians, making up about 85% of Gaza's population, have been displaced since the beginning of the genocidal war on the Strip.
Alongside the human cost of this war, the Israeli occupation forces have destroyed 69,700 housing units and partially damaged 187,300 others. "Israel" has also targeted numerous facilities, including 320 schools, 1,671 industrial facilities, 183 health facilities, 239 mosques, three churches, and 170 press offices, many of which had been turned into places of refuge for the displaced.
Euro-Med asserted that "Israel's" actions "likely amount to war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide."
As such, South Africa's decision to file a genocide complaint against "Israel" at the International Court of Justice is deemed crucial, applying pressure and bringing an end to Israel's immunity and lack of accountability.
The monitor called for an international investigation into Israeli violations and demanded accountability.
Rafah cannot accommodate 1.3mln displaced people, warns Gaza MoH
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza affirmed that the infrastructure, health, and service facilities in the southern Gaza Strip, particularly in Rafah, are fragile and cannot withstand the accommodation of the needs of 1.3 million residents and displaced individuals. The Ministry warned of the spread of epidemics among the displaced, especially children and the elderly.
In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry explained that the Israeli occupation continues to target health crews, noting that dozens have already been martyred by air raids directly targeting them, while others have been detained by the occupation forces. As such, only 6 ambulances remain operational in the sector.
The Ministry called on international community institutions and human rights organizations to urgently bring in devices, equipment, medicines, and medical teams from outside the Strip for assistance.
Additionally, in its statement, the Ministry urged the evacuation of the wounded from Gaza to receive treatment abroad, stating, "We are still struggling to operate some essential services, including intensive care units and child nurseries."
