The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Sunday that hospitals received the bodies of 64 martyrs and 278 injuries over 24 hours, while many victims remain trapped beneath debris and along roads, unreachable due to continued bombardment.
Since October 7, 2023, as of August 24, 2025, the death toll of the Israeli genocide in Gaza has surged to 62,686 Palestinians killed and 157,951 injured. Since March 18, 2025, the total toll has risen to 10,842 killed and 45,910 wounded.
Moreover, as the Israeli-made famine looms over Gaza, 19 starved Palestinians were killed in 24 hours, and over 123 were injured while trying to receive aid at designated 'aid distribution sites' and were later transported to hospitals, as per the Ministry's report.
The death toll among Palestinians killed while seeking food aid in designated distribution zones has now climbed to 2,095, with more than 15,431 others wounded, according to the report.
Eight Palestinians have died in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours due to starvation and malnutrition, bringing the total number of Gaza starvation deaths to 289, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, including 115 children.
'A grave war crime'
The Government Media Office in Gaza warned Sunday that "Israel’s" repeated threats to occupy Gaza City, home to more than 1.3 million Palestinians, signal a "deliberate plan for mass killings and forced displacement."
In an official statement, the office stressed that "any ground invasion would constitute a grave war crime, particularly as Israel systematically dismantles the health system."
The statement described the planned operation as "a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians," urging the UN, human rights organizations, and the wider international community to act immediately to halt the assault. It further reaffirmed that "the Palestinian people will remain steadfast on their land, and no criminal policy will break their resolve."
Meanwhile, resistance factions condemned "Israel’s" plan to capture Gaza City, calling it "a new stage of genocide," and warned that reports of tents being set up in southern Gaza are "a precursor to a large-scale massacre."
