The FBI is intensifying its efforts to investigate several high-profile incidents from the Biden era, Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced on Sunday, adding that the renewed focus includes cases that previously garnered national attention but were left unresolved, drawing scrutiny from conservative commentators and lawmakers.
In a post on X, Bongino stated that he and newly appointed FBI Director Kash Patel "evaluated a number of cases of potential public corruption that, understandably, have garnered public interest."

-The Director and I will have most of our incoming reform teams in place by next week. The hiring process can take a little bit of time, but we are approaching that…
According to Bongino, they have either reopened these cases or allocated additional resources to expedite investigations.
White House cocaine incident, Dobbs leak
Among the cases being reinvestigated is the July 2023 discovery of cocaine in the lobby area of the West Executive Avenue entrance to the White House. The US Secret Service had initially closed its probe, citing a "lack of physical evidence."
Another case receiving renewed attention is the 2022 leak of the Supreme Court's draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson, which preceded the Court’s formal decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. The investigation into the source of the leak had failed to identify a responsible party by January 2023.
The leak drew strong reactions, including a comment from President Donald Trump calling the leaker "slime" and urging the arrest of journalists involved.
Jan. 6 pipe bomb probe gains momentum
The FBI is also escalating its investigation into the undetonated pipe bombs discovered outside the Democratic and Republican Party headquarters in Washington, D.C., on the eve of January 6, 2021.
Despite over 600 tips and more than 1,000 interviews, the case remains unsolved. However, Bongino emphasized that they are "making progress" and urged the public to come forward with any relevant information.
At the start of the year, the FBI released new footage from January 5, 2021, showing the suspect leaving two pipe bombs near Capitol Hill, hoping to receive new leads on the case.
These renewed probes reflect the Bureau’s strategic shift under Bongino and Patel’s leadership.
