Local sources reported on Wednesday that clashes broke out between factions affiliated with the Ministry of Defense in the interim government and the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces along the Tishrin Dam axis in the countryside of Aleppo.
The northern and eastern regions of Syria have witnessed recurring confrontations between the interim government’s forces and SDF units, in what constitutes an ongoing violation of the ceasefire agreement signed last March.
The accord stipulates a halt to military engagements between the two sides and sets a framework for integrating SDF fighters into state institutions.
Israeli incursions in Southern Syria
Meanwhile, in the south, sources in Quneitra confirmed that an Israeli military patrol crossed into Syrian territory with five armored vehicles on the road between the villages of al-Qahtaniya and Umm al-Azam. The occupation forces set up a temporary checkpoint, blocking movement in the area.
According to the sources, another Israeli patrol detonated munitions west of the al-Munitra Dam in the central sector of Quneitra, further escalating tensions.
This latest breach comes as part of the Israeli occupation’s continued violations of Syrian sovereignty, which have intensified since the fall of the previous government in December 2024, including repeated military incursions and attacks across the southern region.
Yet another infiltration
An Israeli patrol advanced on Wednesday morning along the Samdaniya–Khan Arnaba road, setting up a checkpoint in the area, local sources in Quneitra, southern Syria, reported. The patrol included three military vehicles.
Another Israeli patrol moved between the villages of al-Ajraf and Umm Batna in northern Quneitra countryside, establishing an additional checkpoint within nearby agricultural lands. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) noted that Israeli occupation forces, for the second consecutive day, prevented residents of al-Hamidiyah village in northern Quneitra from completing maintenance operations for a vital water pumping line supplying the area.
The SOHR also reported that at dawn on Wednesday, the International Coalition carried out an airborne operation in the town of Marat, north of Deir Ezzor in eastern Syria. The operation involved special units from the internal security forces of the SDF-led Autonomous Administration amid heavy air and drone activity.
Explosion Reported in Kafr Takharim, northern Idlib
Later, the SOHR reported a violent explosion on Wednesday in Kafr Takharim, northern Idlib countryside, near a school, injuring several people.
Ambulances rushed to evacuate the injured amid heightened security and investigations into the cause and the responsible party.
The director of the Civil Defense Center in Harem, Idlib, northwestern Syria, reported that five people were killed in the explosion in Kafr Takharim, and they remain trapped under the rubble.
Local sources indicated that the explosion was caused by an ammunition depot belonging to one of the factions, located in a densely populated area.
