First Visit in 10 Years; Al-Sisi Meets Bennett
In the first visit of its kind of an Israeli prime minister to Egypt in 10 years, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi meets Naftali Bennett.
The Egyptian presidency revealed today, on Monday, that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in Sharm El-Sheikh, in the first visit of its kind by an Israeli prime minister to Egypt in 10 years.
The Egyptian Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Radi said that the meeting is expected to discuss several bilateral issues in various fields, and the possible ways and efforts to revive the peace process, as well as the latest developments in the regional and international arenas.
Last August, a spokesman for the Israeli Prime Minister stated that Prime Minister Naftali Bennett had met for the first time Director of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate, Abbas Kamel.
He also stressed that Kamel invited Prime Minister Bennett, on behalf of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, for an official visit to Egypt in the coming few weeks.
Since 1979, Egypt has been bound by the Camp David Accords with “Israel”, and often acts as a mediator between the Palestinians and the Israelis.
