Five killed in attack near Kenya's border with Somalia
The attack has targeted workers on the Lamu Port, South Sudan, Ethiopia Transport Corridor (LAPSSET).
An ambush targeted a construction site on Friday in a Kenyan coastal region, killing 5 and injuring 3 others, according to the police, and the anti-terror unit is investigating the incident.
The attack occurred in Lamu County which is located near the Somalia border, targeting workers who were building a bridge on the Lamu Port, South Sudan, Ethiopia Transport Corridor (LAPSSET).
Al-Shabaab terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.
For years, Somalia has been witnessing a bloody conflict between government forces and the militants of Al-Shabaab movement, which seeks to control the country in the Horn of Africa and rule it.
The Lamu region, which includes a popular tourist beach destination, has witnessed frequent attacks that were often carried out with roadside bombs.
