French FM: Nuclear agreement with Iran is near
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian says some terms are yet to be settled, but an agreement is around the corner.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said today, Monday, at a press conference in Doha, that the nuclear agreement between Iran and world powers is close.
Le Drian's comments contrast with the US' more pessimistic assessment of the situation on Sunday. The US special envoy for Iran, Robert Malley, said he was not confident a nuclear deal between world powers and the Islamic Republic is imminent.
Malley stressed at a conference in Doha that his country's sanctions against the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps in Iran will remain regardless of the nuclear agreement.

On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stressed, Sunday, during a meeting with the European Union Coordinator for Nuclear Negotiations, Enrique Mora, in Tehran Iran's serious participation in the Vienna Talks, stressing that the main priority for Iran in the Vienna talks is that its economic interests are reserved and the sanctions are lifted.
He stressed that the other parties, especially the United States, should take a realistic approach to resolve the outstanding issues.
For his part, Mora presented, during the meeting, a report on his latest consultations with various parties, while the two parties will continue contact and close consultations in the coming days.
It is noteworthy that Mora will visit Washington after Tehran to conclude the talks.
