Gaza authority of energy: humanitarian catastrophe imminent
The Energy Authority noted that the state of energy sectors would have consequences on other sectors and services such as the health sector, medical services, sewage treatment, water supply, and others.
The Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority in the Gaza Strip assessed that the energy sector in Gaza is in critical condition as a result of the brutal Israeli aggression, warning that the suspension of fuel imports necessary for the operation of power plants, due to the blocking of border crossings would result in a definite humanitarian catastrophe.
The single power plant in the strip has already been strained over the past 16 years due to the blockade enforced on Gaza; the sector is steeply deteriorating due to the suspension of resources. The plant is expected to be completely out of order as the limited stock fuel in the strip is being depleted.
The Energy Authority noted that the state of energy sectors would have consequences on other sectors and services such as the health sector, medical services, sewage treatment, water supply, and others.
The Authority also called for immediate and urgent intervention to open the border crossings for the fuel necessary to operate the power plant.
