Marwan al-Hams, Director of Field Hospitals in the Gaza Strip, has warned that putting the Baptist Hospital out of service has left nearly one million people without access to emergency or ambulance care.
This comes shortly after dozens of patients and medical workers were forced out of the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip before Israeli aircraft bombed the medical facility.
The hospital is the only remaining functional medical facility in Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip after the healthcare infrastructure was completely dismantled in previous Israeli attacks.
Speaking to Al Mayadeen, al-Hams stressed that no medicine, medical supplies, or fuel had entered the Strip in over 40 days. He also revealed that most hospital oxygen stations are now out of service, placing the lives of dozens of patients in immediate danger.
“The remaining hospitals in Gaza are severely under-equipped and unable to provide essential medical and surgical care,” al-Hams stressed, sounding the alarm over a looming collapse of the healthcare system. He urged the international community to act urgently, warning that “without intervention from the free world, Gaza’s entire medical infrastructure could collapse.”
It is worth noting that the hospital's courtyard was bombed by Israeli occupation forces on October 17, 2023, in a harrowing massacre. At the time, the Gaza Ministry of Health reported that 471 Palestinians were massacred and 342 were injured.
‘We’ll Rebuild Again’: Gaza’s lifeline shattered in Israeli strike on hospital
In the early hours of the morning, Israeli warplanes bombed the ambulance and emergency care building at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, leaving behind scenes of devastation and fear. Al Mayadeen’s correspondent documented testimonies from victims and staff on site, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the strike and the ongoing collapse of Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure under relentless Israeli bombardment.
At precisely 2:10 a.m., Israeli missiles struck the building housing the hospital’s ambulance services, intensive care unit, emergency rooms, and other critical departments. Ahmad al-Banna (Abu Abdallah), a staff member at the hospital, described the Israeli attack as sudden and unprovoked.

“There’s an intensive care unit here, a reception area, treatment rooms—everything,” he said. “What’s in this building that makes it a target? Is this just about fear and intimidation? We’re not afraid. And we’re not backing down.”
Al-Banna emphasized the hospital’s vital role in serving patients from central to northern Gaza, calling the strike a direct blow to civilians and essential health services. “We’ll rebuild—again and again,” he vowed. “We’ll clean the hospital back to how it was, and we’ll welcome the patients again.”
'No safe place anywhere in Gaza'
Among those wounded in the attack was Mohammad Abu Nasser, a patient who recounted the horror from inside the facility.
“We were asleep in the units when they suddenly bombed the building—the reception, the lab,” he told Al Mayadeen, his eyes heavy with grief but steady with resolve. “There is no safe place inside the hospital, and no safe place anywhere in Gaza.”
Abu Nasser confirmed that neither patients nor staff were given any evacuation orders prior to the strike. “It was complete chaos. No one expected this building to be bombed. We still don’t understand what happened,” he said.

With his injuries untreated and his referral for care abroad still pending, Abu Nasser issued a desperate plea to the World Health Organization to expedite medical transfers: “We urgently need treatment. I have a referral, but I’m still waiting. Help us. Help those neglected patients.”
The attack on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital adds to the growing toll on Gaza’s medical system, which has already suffered repeated assaults since the resumption of the Israeli aggression. Despite the destruction, hospital staff and patients alike are vowing to stand firm and continue their work.
“We’re staying,” al-Banna declared, “And standing strong.”
Gaza health ministry: 11 martyred, 111 injured in the past 24 hours
The Gaza Ministry of Health reported on Sunday that 11 Palestinians had been killed and 111 others injured in the last 24 hours due to Israeli airstrikes targeting various locations across the Gaza Strip.
According to the Ministry’s daily update, the total number of martyrs since March 18, 2025, has reached 1,574, with 4,115 injured. Since the beginning of the ongoing genocidal assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the death toll has risen to 50,944, with 116,156 wounded.
In a related context, Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported that seven Palestinians were killed and others injured when an Israeli airstrike targeted a vehicle near the desalination plant in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.
In another Israeli attack on Deir al-Balah, three Palestinians were martyred and several others wounded when Israeli forces bombed a municipal facility.
In Khan Younis, southern Gaza, Israeli drones targeted a tent sheltering forcibly displaced Palestinians in the al-Mawasi area, resulting in two martyrs and multiple injuries.
Concurrently, Israeli airstrikes also hit eastern Khan Younis, and drones targeted farmland north of Abasan al-Kabira, east of the city.
In Rafah, additional injuries were reported after an Israeli drone strike targeted a group of civilians in the Al-Shakoush area of Al-Mawasi.
In northern Gaza, our correspondent confirmed that Israeli forces committed a massacre in Jabalia al-Balad, bombing a building with its residents inside. The bombing resulted in numerous martyrs and injuries.
In short, "Israel", led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, continues its genocidal war in Gaza—striking densely populated areas, hospitals, and vital civilian infrastructure—killing Palestinians, the majority of them women and children.
