German Interior Minister condemns RAF solidarity rally in Berlin
For 30 years, the Red Army Faction operated in West Germany, carrying out attacks.
German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser condemned Sunday the recent demonstration in Berlin in solidarity with persecuted members of the far-left militant group Red Army Faction (RAF) and emphasized that investigations should continue, including against those who assisted the militants in escaping.
On Saturday evening, several hundred protestors gathered in Berlin to show support with fugitive and imprisoned RAF members, according to German news agency RND. The rally's theme was "Stop State Terrorism — Solidarity with Fugitives and Prisoners," according to the story.
Faeser told RND that there was "absolutely nothing" to glorify about the RAF "brutally murdering 34 people," adding that it was important to know which RAF supporters allowed them to stay hiding and still make it possible for them to do so.

From 1968 to 1998, the RAF operated in West Germany, carrying out bombings, killings, and kidnappings mainly against NATO and US military targets.
German municipalities Chief urges €10Bln for city security
Andre Berghegger, leading the German Association of Towns and Municipalities, urges national authorities to allocate a minimum of 10 billion euros ($10.9 billion) over the coming decade to bolster urban security, which may involve constructing bunkers.
"During the Cold War, Germany had more than 2,000 bunkers. Of these, only 600 remain, which can protect about 500,000 people. Decommissioned bunkers must urgently be put back into use," Berghegger said in an interview with German media group Funke released on Saturday.
Berghegger emphasized that enhancing the resilience of German cities requires collaborative efforts from the federal government, state governments, and local municipalities. He further underscored the importance of reinstating alerting services and sirens nationwide.
According to a report from German media on June 8, 2023, the country's bomb shelters were found to accommodate only 0.5% of the local population in 2022, a figure that remained unchanged throughout the year.
