Global Firepower reveals the world's strongest militaries
Based on 50 factors and indicators, the website published their annual report, revealing the world's top military powers - and it's not too surprising.
Global Firepower published its annual report which indicates the military strengths of modern armies around the world.
Using 50 indicators and measurements, including number and types of weapons, natural resources, manpower, finances, logistical capabilities and geographies, armies were ranked in the report based on their score.
The army of 2 million soldiers - the Chinese army - topped the list of human capabilities. India came in second with an army of 1.45 million soldiers, while the United States came in third with 1.4 million soldiers.
However, human resources are not the decisive criterion in determining the strength of the army.
Each country, overall, was judged by a PowerIndex score - and, the smaller the score, the mightier the army (the closer the score is to 0.0000, the more powerful the army is).
The United States army was placed first, having a score of 0.0453. Second came Russia, with a score of 0.0501, then China with 0.0511. India came in with a score of 0.0979, and fifth on the list was Japan, with a score of 0.1195.
In the Middle East, the Egyptian army ranked first (12th globally), the Turkish army ranked second (13th globally) and the Iranian army ranked third (14th globally).
Contrary to expectations, the Israeli occupation forces placed 4th (18th globally), followed by the Saudi army, the Iraqi army and the UAE army. As for the Syrian army, it ranked 8th; the Kuwaiti army ranked 9th and the Jordanian army ranked 10th.
