The Global Sumud Flotilla, the Gaza-bound humanitarian convoy, is nearing its destination, organizers confirmed Sunday. The fleet, now off the northern coast of Egypt near Marsa Matrouh, is expected to continue its route toward waters north of Alexandria before approaching Gaza within the next few days.
Organizers from the International Committee for Breaking the Siege on Gaza have stated that the fleet, currently just 366 nautical miles (678 kilometers) from Gaza, is scheduled to arrive within three to four days, weather permitting.
In a statement posted on social media, the committee warned: "We expect the Zionists to commit a war crime against us at any time as we are getting closer to Gaza."

The leading vessels, OHWAYLA and ALL IN, head a group now composed of 44 boats, a number that has grown with the recent addition of two ships. Organizers emphasized that the flotilla is entering a "high-risk zone" and called for "global vigilance and solidarity" at this critical stage.

Israeli forces prepare for interception
"Israel" is reportedly preparing to intercept the flotilla using Shayetet 13, its elite naval commando unit. According to KAN 11, "Israel's" public broadcaster, recent exercises have focused on boarding and taking control of vessels with "minimal harm to passengers."
Officials from the Israeli occupation have labeled the mission an "organized provocation" and have accused participants of being linked to "jihadist initiatives." Offers by "Israel" to reroute aid through Askalan, Cyprus, or even the Vatican were rejected by flotilla organizers, who view such proposals as undermining the political purpose of the mission.
Drone attacks fail to deter convoy
The flotilla has already faced multiple drone attacks by "Israel." The latest incident on September 24 included reports of 13 explosions near several boats in international waters, along with the use of flashbangs, itching powder, and communications jamming.
Previous attacks occurred near Tunisia earlier in the month. Despite the threats, the organizers remain steadfast.
A separate vessel carrying over 100 journalists and medical professionals is set to sail on October 1.

Spain has deployed a Meteoro-class naval vessel from Cartagena to ensure safe passage, while Italy has dispatched two naval ships following drone attacks on the flotilla.
Spanish authorities stressed that citizens from dozens of nations have a right to navigate international waters without obstruction. Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto reaffirmed Rome’s commitment to protecting its nationals and criticized attacks on the civilian fleet.
