Governmental meetings with SDF on the possibility of solution in Syria
Kurdish sources confirm to Al Mayadeen that "several meetings were held between Syrian officials and leaders of the SDF to study the possibility of holding a new round of talks between the two parties about the future of northeastern Syria.
"Several meetings were held between Syrian officials who came from Damascus and leaders of the Syrian Democratic Forces in the city of Qamishli, to study the recent political developments and the possibility of holding a new round of talks between the two parties about the future of the regions of northeastern Syria under the control of SDF,” in reference to the Syrian-Turkish rapprochement path and the holding of a meeting between the defense ministers of Syria, Turkey, and Russia in Moscow, Kurdish sources confirmed to Al Mayadeen Net on Tuesday.
"It was agreed on the possibility of holding meetings with the SDF and then officials from the SDF and the Autonomous Administration in the coming days in the capital, Damascus," the sources indicated, adding that "Damascus has not yet shown great enthusiasm for resolving the northeastern Syrian file by force, which makes the dialogue more effective."
"There is an American initiative to find points of convergence between Turkey and the SDF, in preparation for launching a dialogue between the two sides," the sources said, noting that "Washington conveyed impossible Turkish conditions that make the possibility of success of these efforts slim."
In turn, the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) announced holding meetings with the leaders of the Syrian Democratic Alliance coming from Washington, as part of the openness shown by the Kurds, since the announcement of the tripartite meeting of the defense ministers of Syria, Turkey, and Russia at the end of last year.
In a press statement, the two sides affirmed that the Syrian-Turkish rapprochement represents a security threat and will lead to the development of terrorism in the region.
The Russian, Syrian, and Turkish defense ministers held talks on Wednesday in the Russian capital, Moscow, to discuss means of resolving the Syrian crisis, the former's defense ministry said.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the defense ministers highlighted how the dialogue was constructive, stressing the need for all three parties to hold further talks to bring more stability to Syria and the whole region, the statement added.
