Greta Thunberg classified as ‘violent’ after pro-Palestine protests
German police classified Greta Thunberg as "prone to violence" after participating in several pro-Palestine protests.
German police have classified Swedish activist Greta Thunberg as "prone to violence" following her involvement in several pro-Palestine demonstrations, according to Dortmund police.
Authorities decided to disperse a camp of pro-Palestine protesters in Dortmund after receiving information that Thunberg might attend, as stated in a release on Tuesday.
"The Dortmund police have predicted a danger in connection with this meeting. The announced visit of Ms. Thunberg led to the conclusion that more people would gather at the event site than was announced," said the police statement.
The police stated that the timeframe for registering the meeting would be violated, adding, "Recent events involving Thunberg have led to her being assessed as prone to violence."
German media reported that Thunberg did not show up at the scene.
This is not the first instance in which Thunberg attended pro-Palestine protests. Earlier last month, Thunberg was arrested in Copenhagen by Danish police at a protest against the war on Gaza, reported a spokesperson for the student group organizing the demonstration.
Thunberg shared images on Instagram of the riot police entering a building where the students were staging a protest.
“I can’t confirm the names of those arrested, but six people have been arrested in connection with the demonstration,” a Copenhagen police spokesperson said.
