Guterres, Zelensky meet, discuss possible UN missions to Olenevka
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres met, on Thursday, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Lviv and discuss parameters of a possible UN mission to Zaporozhye.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres met, on Thursday, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Lvov where the two agreed on the parameters of a possible UN mission to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP).
"The President and the UN Secretary-General agreed on the parameters of a possible IAEA mission to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. It must be carried out in a legal way through the territory free from the invaders," Zelenskyy's office said.
Guterres further informed Zelensky about preparations for a UN mission to be sent to Olenevka where a detention facility that hosted prisoners of war that were attacked.
A statement by Zelensky read that "Antonio Guterres informed about the work on sending a UN fact-finding mission to Olenivka."
Late in July, Ukrainian soldiers shelled the Olenivka detention facility housing Azov regiment prisoners of war, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The DPR territorial defense reports that 53 people have died and more than 130 have been injured as a result of the strike.
