The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, voiced its rejection and condemnation of Kazakhstan’s announcement of joining the normalization accords and its intention to strengthen ties with the Zionist entity, describing the move as “unacceptable and deplorable” as it serves to whitewash the genocide committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the movement said that “Kazakhstan’s move comes at a time when the fascist entity and its war criminal leaders, wanted by the International Criminal Court, are facing growing international isolation."
Hamas added that any normalization with "Israel" constitutes “complicity in its crimes and an attempt to rescue its collapsing image before global public opinion.”
The Palestinian group renewed its call on all countries, particularly Arab and Islamic nations, to sever all forms of relations with the criminal Zionist entity and to “refrain from engaging in any normalization projects with it,” urging instead collective efforts to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and to “stand by their just and legitimate struggle until they achieve freedom, independence, and the establishment of their own sovereign state with al-Quds as its capital.”
The movement concluded its statement by affirming that “engaging in the path of normalization will not alter the reality of the occupation or the isolation of its leaders,” calling for the strengthening of both public and official opposition to normalization in the face of "Israel’s" policies of aggression and extermination.
Trump announces Kazakhstan will join the normalization accords
US President Donald Trump announced on November 7 that Kazakhstan is the first country to join the normalization accords during his second term, adding that it is “the first among many nations” expected to move toward normalization with the Israeli occupation under these agreements.
While Kazakhstan and “Israel” have maintained full diplomatic relations for over 30 years, joining the Normalization agreements is seen as a symbolic step to deepen Kazakhstan-"Israel" relations and reaffirm the US-led framework of normalizing ties between “Israel” and the Arab and Muslim world.
A senior US official told Axios that the move aims to revive the "Abraham Accords", which were first brokered under Trump’s presidency to normalize relations between “Israel” and several Arab states.
Trump has made it clear that one of his foreign policy goals is to restore “Israel’s” international support, particularly in the wake of the war on Gaza that left “Israel” politically isolated.
US officials say Kazakhstan’s entry into the so-called "Abraham Accords" is intended as a first step toward rehabilitating “Israel’s” standing among Muslim-majority countries and advancing regional cooperation.
“This is going to show that the Abraham Accords is a club that many countries want to be a member of,” a US official said to Axios, adding that it may help “turn the page on the war in Gaza.”
The move critics say normalizes ties with the Israeli occupation and whitewashes its war crimes against Palestinians following a horrifying genocide and an ongoing siege.
