Hamas Holds "Israel" Liable for Outcomes of Palestinian Prisoners' Suffering
Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum called for human rights organizations, international and humanitarian institutions to break the silence on the situation of the prisoners and to jump into immediate, effective and serious action.
Today, Sunday, Hamas held "Israel" accountable for whatever happens to the Palestinian prisoners, who are endlessly suffering from hunger strikes.
Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum called for human rights organizations, international and humanitarian institutions to break the silence on the situation of the prisoners and to jump into immediate, effective and serious action to put an end to the suffering of the Prisoners, especially those on hunger strike, whose lives are on the line. Furthermore, he urged to stand up to the crimes of the Israeli occupation.
Through Al Mayadeen, Barhoum expressed Hamas' condemnation of all attempts and measures to dim the spirits of the prisoners in continuing their hunger strike. He stressed that there is a need to mobilize energies and efforts to support the prisoners, liberate them, forcing the occupation to end their suffering.
He stressed that "the commitment and loyalty to the prisoners require that all forces, factions, and elites of the Palestinian people take responsibility, muster all efforts and energies to support the prisoners, back them in all forms and by all means of resistance, victor them, and force the Israeli occupation to end their suffering."
In addition, Barhoum stressed that the occupation would be the culprit, and would have to face the consequences of any outcomes resulting from the suffering of the prisoners on hunger strike.
"The Israeli occupation will have to bear the consequences of any disaster resulting from the suffering of the prisoners," he said.
"Threatening the lives of the prisoners will explode into a battle, and we warn the Israeli occupation that we are observing the prisoners' conditions closely," said Abd al-Latif al-Qanou', another spokesman for Hamas. "The resistance will not stand by and watch and will not leave the prisoners to the occupation; the resistance will be the first line of defense for them," he added, revealing consistent contact and coordination with Palestinian factions. He also stressed that the Palestinian Authority should have a role in this struggle.
In parallel, the Palestinian Captive Movement announced escalating measures against Israeli prison authorities on November 1.
Seven Palestinian prisoners are still on hunger strike, rejecting administrative detention. The prisoners are Kayed al-Fasfous, Miqdad al-Qawasmi, Alaa al-Araj, Hisham Abu-Hawash, Shadi Abu-Aker, Ayad Hraimi, and Louay al-Ashqar.
