Hamas, PIJ to exact revenge at heart of 'Tel Aviv', Israeli media says
In light of the shooting that took place in "Tel Aviv", Israeli media says the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas are planning to exact their revenge in the settlement.
Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and Hamas have their eyes set on "Tel Aviv" as an arena to carry out operations and retaliate against the Israeli occupation "in the heart of Israel", Israeli media said Sunday.
PIJ and Hamas have designated "Tel Aviv" as a target for operations to demonstrate that despite the Israeli operation in Jenin and everything that is happening, they can still exact revenge from "Israel", Channel 13 Israeli affairs commentator Hezi Simantov said.
"It seems that Hamas and the Islamic Jihad will focus their efforts in the coming weeks on encouraging other attackers to carry out operations inside Israel," the Israeli journalist said.
Israeli media reported on Saturday that a shooting took place in Nahalat Binyamin Street in the center of "Tel Aviv", with one Israeli policeman dying in the shooting and two settlers suffering from varying wounds.
The attack in the center of "Tel Aviv" was "unexpected for the police and the Shin Bet, especially as it occurred on Saturday at a time when that area has a lot of traffic," Channel 13 reported.
Colonel Kobi Marom from the reserves said the Israeli occupation forces the Shin Bet and police have lost control over the West Bank due to repeated attacks by settlers against Palestinian villages.
"The army has raised the level of alertness on the front line and the crossings yesterday evening, fearing an infiltration into the internal front."
Another operation conducted by Martyr Mohannad Mohammad Mazar'a, 20 years old, in the "Ma'ale Adumim" settlement east of occupied Al-Quds, wounded six settlers, two of which were reportedly in a critical condition, and left the Israeli Occupation Forces in a state of confusion.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that it had been officially notified of the death of Al-Mazar’a.
Israeli media confirmed the number of wounded settlers and the condition they were in and announced they had killed Mazar'a, who conducted the operation in a commercial complex in the settlement.
The martyr, an hour before he conducted the operation, recorded an audio containing his will in which he said, "If we accept this oppression then Islam is innocent from us" and told fellow Palestinians not to abandon their prayers, nor the Resistance, reaffirming that he did not conduct the shooting operation on orders of any Resistance faction, but that he was a Palestinian resisting oppression and standing up for justice.
This echoes the will of martyr Ibrahim Al-Nabulsi, who was martyred last year in Nablus, who urged Palestinians to continue in the path of Resistance and to "never abandon their rifles."
These operations come at a time when settler attacks on Palestinians are recurring with systemic support from the Israeli occupation.
Even the United Nations highlighted a significant increase in attacks carried out by settlers in the West Bank against Palestinians, with around 600 incidents recorded since the beginning of 2023.
According to Palestinian WAFA, settlers stormed several areas in the western and northwestern parts of Burqa, set fire to two vehicles during the attack, and brought in sheep to a parcel of land nearby, indicating their intention to seize lands in the village.
The attack resulted in confrontations with Palestinian youths who rushed to protect their village.
The situation in the West Bank is very dangerous, saying, "What we have seen in recent weeks are dozens of terrorist operations against Palestinian villages without arrests," Marom said.
These aggressions carried out by settlers are greenlit and covered by some Israeli ministers, he added.
