Clashes erupted between Taliban militants and ISIS militants, on Wednesday, in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

The clashes took part in Kartal Sahi area and lasted until the evening hours.

In a tweet, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said, "An operation was launched against an ISIS cell in the area, killing four terrorists from the organization and arresting another."

"The cell was planning to launch an attack in areas where Muslims commemorate the rituals of the month of Muharram," according to Mujahid, who also noted that large quantities of weapons and ammunition were seized.

It is also worth noting that the country has lately witnessed more than 100 bombings and armed attacks by ISIS, resulting in hundreds of deaths.
