Hezbollah long-range, precision rockets 'the most dangerous': Minister
A former Israeli minister says Israeli settlers in the north cannot continue living under the threat of Hezbollah's anti-tank guided missiles.
Former Israeli occupation minister Meir Shetreet warned that if a war breaks out with Lebanon, Hezbollah's rockets "will not only reach Kiryat Shmona but will also target Tel Aviv and Dimona, and any place deep within Israel."
Acknowledging the importance of Hezbollah's rocket arsenal during an interview with the Israeli channel KAN, Shetreet highlighted that the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon possesses long-range and precision rockets with GPS, emphasizing that this is "the most dangerous aspect."
Discussing the ongoing operations against Israeli targets in northern occupied Palestine, Shetreet mentioned that Israeli settlers are living in anxiety and fear of Hezbollah's al-Radwan Force and noted that this situation has been ongoing since October 7, 2023.
The former Israeli minister affirmed that Israeli settlers in the north cannot continue living under the threat of anti-tank guided missiles, pointing out that the Israeli Iron Dome system cannot deal with this type of weapons, which pose a threat due to their range of up to 10 kilometers.
Shetreet touched on the Burkan rockets used by Hezbollah to target Israeli military positions, describing them as rockets carrying half a ton of explosives. He warned that if these rockets land inside the "Metulla" or "Kiryat Shmona" settlements, they will cause serious damage, adding that "under this threat as well, settlers cannot return [to northern settlements]."
Pointing to the evolving capabilities of Hezbollah, Shetreet recalled that during previous wars with Lebanon, "Israel" did not have to evacuate northern settlements, as settlers back then used to rush to shelters when the Iron Dome system was not deployed.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli Alma Research and Education Center pointed to the steady and systematic development of Hezbollah's weaponry, including precision-guided systems.
Israeli media are once again underlining that the situation at the Lebanese border area with occupied Palestine is "extremely difficult", stressing that it would grow more difficult as time goes on.
Hezbollah, Israeli media reports suggested, has "established a security belt several kilometers inside Israel using its military capabilities and through its operations" against the Israeli occupation.
A couple of days ago, the Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that "Israel's" losses on the northern front are on a seamless uptick as the fighting continues and amid an increase in displacement from the Israeli settlements near the Lebanese borders.
Ynet, the newspaper's online portal, reported that fear of Hezbollah's firepower has caused extensive financial damages to northern settlers, mainly to farmers, because they are unable to work on the farmland they had usurped from the people of northern Palestine and southern Lebanon. According to the Israeli outlet, the losses amount to 500 million shekels ($131 million).
